Anybody want to help me build a computer?

Here is what I want:
Desktop form factor (if that is the right thing to call it)
Fast enough processor to run a bunch of applications at once, but I'm not a gamer.
A video card or whatever that would enable me to use dual monitors -- BUT I don't want to get new monitors, and the ones I have are DVI and VGA. So I don't even want or care about HDMI.
WiFi and Bluetooth
A single (at least) regular USB port
A single (at least) USB-C port
Up to 8gb of RAM is prob all I need but I guess I would buy/use 16gb because I am ignorant?
A SSD of whatever size. Not sure. Don't need too big. Won't be my Maine machine.
If all of the above could be accomplished in a smaller form factor, great.
With all that said, if building this is stupid and I should just buy something pre/built, kindly advise.
Please go easy on me.

The only thing would be the dual monitors but I'm sure you could find one

Check out LINK /. If you plan on gaming then you'll need to buy your video card first.

You can buy almost anything off the shelf that can do that. If it doesn't have dual outputs you can buy a USB DisplayLink Adapter for your second screen. You might need HDMI to DVI and VGA Adapters

you're better off getting a walmart special in lieu of building.

Thanks. Building it is just sort of fun for me.

Haha that constitutes not going at me too hard, so thanks.

So, jokes aside, as annoying as it is building something cutting edge right now, building something that budget might be worse. You’ll almost certainly have to buy a gpu used. And while that is normally a good thing, the used gpu market is current several standard deviations beyond absurd. At least with new stuff, you might get it for msrp. People are paying twice msrp for years old GPUs because there’s just no other option.
Now, if you’re willing to use adapters, then build whatever you want. Doesn’t much matter. But if you want to be able to run DVI natively, a bargain basement prebuilt is probably your best bet.
Now now, if you aren’t price sensitive and just want to have fun with it, we can just treat this like a puzzle and go to town. But at that point, we are going more hobby than functional. And there’s nothing wrong with that, but you should have both eyes open before you walk that path.

Ooo, I’ve changed my mind (maybe). Someone tell me because I have no idea: to run dual monitors over DVI, do I need one DVI output with a splitter or do I need two?

If he isn't gaming he really doesn't need a GPU.

Thus my question about DVI outputs. Modern motherboards with more than one appear to be non existent.

You can get a docking station to fix that.

I know, which is why a previous post of mine on this thread included “if you’re willing to use adapters, build whatever you want.”
Some people are super picky about footprint and cable management.
