I'm just looking for a laptop purely for entertainment purposes. Must have a big screen and under $400. Any recommendations surely appreciated. TIA!

Is this a euphemism for "streaming movies and TV shows", or do you mean some other use case?

Streaming, scrolling, watching, reading, ect. No video games.

lol my home backup is ASUS and is a turd. But only because it doesn’t have USB alt mode and power. Chip makers recently solved this type of turd behavior by OEMs by requiring minimum specifications. At least Intel did by requiring Thunderbolt when chip supports it. So 13th gen forward that is largely solved.
Historically I’ve only got latitudes because parts are dirt cheap and easy to get. My current laptop is a hodgepodge of a $50 (broken) Craigslist latitude and a $50 system board. Latitude 5430, 1235u, 32GB. Got it like 2 years ago. Replaced the fan recently.
