Amazon laptop return question

Let's say I ordered a laptop a week ago for $1,000. Price dropped to $900. Amazon refuses to price match and will only price match if I return (dumb). If I order the laptop again for $900 and just return it when I get it, they won't know I just returned the new laptop? Don't want to uninstall all the stuff from my current laptop. Too much of a PIA and my credit card doesn't price match

I believe Amazon charges a restocking fee on opened laptops/electronics even if it's within 30 days unless it's damaged or dead on arrival. If I want to test electronics I buy from Best Buy as they'll take back opened items with no fees.

Honestly they may or may not find out. It’s a 50/50 shot. But there is a track of serial numbers on the commercial side.
If it’s an entirely amazon fulfilled item the chances are more in your favor

Fulfilled by amazon, like new item. So no issues with restocking fee.

I have done this with no issue buying a refurb on amazon.
I actually had an issue with the sound though. I ordered the new one, exact same model.. then i transferred all my data over to it using a usb hd.. and then i factory restored the old laptop and sent it back to them..
i eventually got my full refund for the first laptop. no issue.

Do it. Amazon will refund your money as soon as UPS scans the return bar code
