I was thinking about getting the Echo show to replace my first gen Echo that is located in my kitchen. However, I read a pretty detailed review that has me leaning toward getting a Fire HD 10 tablet with the built in stand. Each item would basically always be plugged in on my countertop. Does anyone here have experience with both? They both have the Alexa always listening feature which is key for me.

you have to side load the google play store on the HD 10 and sometimes it still doesnt work with google. You are then stuck with amazon app store only as a tablet

So it doesn't have all the same functions as the Echo? I use the Echo to adjust my thermostats, control smart plugs, play Spotify/Sirius XM, weather forecasts, alarms and to occasionally order items off Amazon. Would I not be able to do all of those things with the HD hands free?

According to this link the latest 10 with 5.5 FireOS and above supports hands free Alexa. LINK

Due to it portability, flexibility and lower cost I would lean toward the tablet.
