Affordable, effective, wireless intercom system for the house

Our kids rooms are far away and I want to call them for dinner and stuff like that. Or just tell them to stop jumping off the bed 
We had a wired version connected to phones growing up, but I’m assuming there are affordable wireless options now. Want one in my workshop too.
Any recommendations?

I thought of that but I kind of want the old school buttons. Also don’t like the active listening.

I use Amazon Echo devices for this. It works great, and has a lot of other useful functionality. It’ll play music, set timers/alarms, etc.

Don’t you have to say “intercom kids room” or something first? And won’t it be another thing reliant on wifi?

My kids don't know the name of the one in our room. Also you can turn it to silent or simply unplug it, but I like knowing the Amazon people can hear me pounding my wife.
