Was given an old Ipad from an older relative. Need the apple ID & Password but they can't seem to give me the right login info, no matter how many times I've tried. I'm unable get pass the setup screen. Any suggestions on accessing or resetting the Ipad?

If Find My iPad is turned on then you are SOL unless you know the answers to the forgot password questions.
If Find is turned off you can recover it in iTunes as was mentioned.
Be warned, depending on how old it is, even if you do get it set up, you may not be able to do much with it. My MIL gave us an older iPad to use with our son. It is so old I can't install Disney+ or the most recent version of YouTube because it can't support the most recent versions of iOS.
