The thread the other day was so inane. Xavi and Pirlo are in a class of their own in terms of recycling and keeping possession. Of course, this is overrated for some.

Crazy, sometimes I look back at reminisce about the good old days when we used battle the ManUre fans during the Champions League. Or when we experienced perhaps the greatest moment in MSB history when lsuin09 claimed his superiority over us because he was Louisiana HS MVP in 1995. Or even when Rex would start obvious flaming threads about how soccer sucks because 1/10th of goals come from corner kicks. Those were the days.

Now we just get the stupid arguments about Xavi not being any good because the refs "cheated" Chelsea out of the Champions League.

I suppose we should look ahead and be thankful there are about 15 people who regularly contribute. We even have our own Rex, TennesseeJed, who starts controversial threads and then disappears without defending any of his claims. It almost brings a tear to my eye.

I just miss S's awesome "Leeds would skulldrag ________" comments. I can't even do a da Coop contingent countdown, because da Coop contingent hasn't shown up in ages. I feel like Alex in Goodbye Lenin dealing with the great wonders of consumerism in reunited Germany while still having to convince his mother that communism is alive and kicking in the GDR.

I'm referring to summer of 2009 Ray. It seems like it was months ago.

You guys weren't even here during the last WC, when many of us battled Zach, whose argument against soccer went something like this:

Someone a long time ago told him that soccer would be the biggest sport in the U.S.A., like in 1970 or 1870, I'm not sure which because Zach is really fricking old.

Since soccer is obviously not the biggest sport in the U.S.A., all soccer fans are liars, and stupid.

Thus baseball was obviously superior.

It was a really dumb thread, but it was one of the first soccer-specific threads on the board, if I remember correctly.

Feels like it was ages ago. I have changed so much since then. I now have one or two gray hairs on my head and weigh 163 pounds instead of 162. My friends and family hardly recognize me.

I go to the poli board maybe once a month and I couldn't imagine rex in a soccer thread. Might cause me to ask for a self ban

I wanna say it was when Leauxgan shaved his pubescape into a style resembling Carles Puyol's hair. Summer of 07 if I remember correctly.
