I'm surprised the Ukraine number isn't lower. Who can remember all the words? Gotta be the longest anthem ever

I'd say it's easily England - close to 100% of their players sing "God Save The Queen" - and they're very enthusiastic as well.

England is up there, but there isn't a nation on earth that can top the Welsh in any singing competition.

1. Wales

I see it as an outward embodiment of patriotism. It means you care about the shirt you're wearing, and the soil you're standing on.

I fricking hate when they don't sing it.

"Men of Harlech" is probably the single coolest song in the history of music. Youtube the scene from the movie Zulu where they sing it. If that doesn't make your skin crawl I don't think anything can.

You don't need to have an outward embodiment of patriotism to be good at soccer. You have to have ambition and want to be the best. There's a lot of selfishness and internal drive that goes into being great at your sport, not patriotism. Teamwork and pride in your country is great, I would rather have talent. You can develop a team first mentality, not so much talent and skill. Singing or not singing your country's anthem is something fans can be mad at when their teams don't win.

No, but it's a good way to show that you are playing for your country first and foremost.

Talent without teamwork sucks.

How this list doesn't have north Korea at the top I'll never know.

But I would put them first.

Communist countries can't do most things right, but they sure know how to write national anthems.

I never said it was about being good. It has absolutely nothing to do with athleticism. It has to do with being grateful you have the opportunity to put the shirt on. I realize youd rather have talent, but who wrote a rule saying the two are mutually exclusive? Do these guys have to make a choice whether they are going to spend their time practicing and getting better, or singing?

No. They don't. So quit being a douche and open up your mouth and sing.
