The Worst Dive of the Weekend Thus Far

Soccer will NEVER gain widespead respect in the US until this is cracked down on. It's very simple and people have stated it a thousand times- ban the pussy flopper for several matches after the fact. Does anyone think that there is a collective effort by the rest of world to keep soccer as "gay"(according to an average american sports fan), so that the US won't eventually dominate the sport, by allowing players to get away with these ridiculous dives?

I started thinking about this after seeing Donovan shrug off an obvious chest bump by Ivanovic today that would have probably drawn a yellow card if he had done what the average player in the EPL would have done.

Torres had a hell of a dive today as well.

If it were some of the people mentioned in this thread, Ivanovic would have been sent off. Landy was classy there. He could have acted as if he'd been shot.

I guess I just don't see what you're talking about. Not shaking someone's hand that totally shat on your family's honor is pretty acceptable to me, and something I would expect any man to do.

i definitely think he loses his cool from time to time (biting, kicking the ball at half time today)... But, I think its that temperament that helps him excel, too

So, it will pay off for him, but may cost him on occasion, too... Thats just the way he plays...

I can see not liking him if he doesn't play for your club, but its what makes the supporters of his club, love him more...

That's why I want to be done with Suarez. If it is acceptable to say what he said in Uruguay, then how did Evra dishonor his family? I know plenty of people that are racist, I don't think Suarez is, I had a coworker that would brag about his future son in law saying **** or the n word. If the kid lost his job over it, he wouldn't care, so why would Suarez's family care? You are never going to see my points just as I think yours slant towards homerism, which I understand.

I know that not everyone that watches soccer in america understands it. Fast paced games are still entertaining to the vast majority of sports fans, even if they don't know too much about the game. It's tough to teach somebody about soccer, but it's impossible if they will never give it any credit. If I hadn't played soccer since I was 4, as a football player and typical american, I very likely would've dismissed it as a "pussy" sport that I would never be interested after I first saw a not top 10 clip of some foreign play flopping like a fish for someone breathing on him.

It doesn't stand out in my memory, but sadly, nothing that Torres did today does. What minute was it, I could've missed it.

I understand the argument, but it pisses me off when I'm watching a game that is exciting for 30 mins and one guy gets fouled or dives and then here come the "fricking pussies" "magic spray" "blah blah blah"

Nah i dont buy into that anymore. Americans don't watch soccer because, until recently, it is rarely available on cable television.

Every American I've watched soccer with complain about the flopping, but it prevents very few of them from watching. It's more along the lines of not understanding the game/not appreciating the skill. Most think it's boring.

I agree with this. Let's be honest here Americans, a 0-0 draw between Wigan and West Brom is more exciting than nine innings of any regular season MLB game.

Because everyone across the world now believes he is a racist. Because the world doesn't bother actually researching and making decisions for themselves. They take their spoon-fed bullshite from the media and jump to conclusions before they try to find out all of the facts behind a situation.

quote:

I don't think Suarez is

But the rest of the world does because of this crap. Because the FA, Evra, and SAF didn't bother to tell anyone the context this word has in Uruguay.

quote:

If the kid lost his job over it, he wouldn't care, so why would Suarez's family care

Because the kid doesn't play football on the international stage and is watched by millions. And I really hope you see the difference between a guy who brags and wants his son to be racist, and a guy who has donated thousands against racism, has a black grandfather, and fervently denies being a racist.

I understand. It really is an agree to disagree situation and that's cool.

It's hatred of America that drives FIFA, not greed

Anyone who goes out of their way to talk shite about a sport when they don't like it fricking sucks. frick pandering to those people.

Fabregas has not played well the past few matches.

Betis-Bilbao at one a piece at halftime.

I didn't see the Suarez / Ferdinand challenge as a dive. Or a foul.

Suarez stumbled and fell before Rio even got on the scene.

I'm a Chelsea fan, DGAF who wins a ManU/Liverpool game, and I dislike Ferdinand AND Suarez enough to not give a shite if either (or both) fell down a flight of jagged, rusty, flaming stairs.

There's was nothing AT ALL in any part of that challenge.

Or in the eye of Howard Webb, a penalty kick.

Bilbao down to 10. Javi Martinez sent off.

I do not agree with the call.
