Bornstein is not on the roster tonight. We need to try Lichaj or Pearce beacause Bocanegra needs to move centrally. Edu is not a center mid.

Speaking of Poland, I haven't seen this many skis since my trip to Aspen.

Another shitty fricking clearance leads to a goal for Poland.

LOL Dempsey buys a free kick

dreadful performance really. I get that Gooch isn't in form and Edu isn't a CB but still not very good.

It wasn't that bad. I mean we dominated the second half outside of a really shitty clearance. Not to mention we notoriously struggle against Eastern European teams.

Jones found Jozy for a nice goal early and then the Poles outplayed us the rest of the half. After Timmy bailed us out several times, the Poles finally scored. In the second half Dempsey dropped back into the midfield. Bradley pushed forward as Jones dropped back. Gooch leaped over three Poles on a Holden corner for the goal. Jones couldn't clear and the Poles equalized. We possessed the ball much better in the second half but couldn't create many chances. All in all a fair result for both sides. Bob's halftime adjustments were fantastic, StuHawk was the MOTM, and Jones played very well for his first cap. However we still looked too skittish in the back with Edu not playing his natural position and Gooch rusty.

as much possession as Poland had at times (and it was a bit disappointing how much they had) both of their goals were caused by our frickups. Granted the second goal was a very nice strike.

So Gooch is back in good form? And who was in goal for the Poles? Oh, and could you post a link to the goals?

It was ya boy Boruc. He had some very nice saves on Altidore and Edu.

I can't find any highlights right now, I'm too tired.

He played well in the air, but was lousy closing down on the ball. He needs some game time and fast (i.e. go out on loan).

Gooch was better than he was in South Africa. I'll take the improvement there.

I like the idea at centerback, but I'd prefer Jones there and Edu in central midfield. Edu's positioning isn't very good in the back, but he wasn't nearly as bad as some people are saying. He was probably our second best defender, and if not for two glaring mistakes from Holden/Gooch and then Jones, we get a clean sheet.

Overall, I'm content. I liked what Bradley did in the second half with the 4-5-1-ish formation. It was the same thing we did against Ghana second half, with Stu replacing Landon and both taking turns dropping deep to distribute. I like Dempsey in that role, it gives him space to operate and I think he gets too little of that when he's up top.

The positives are all I'm really worried about. Jones is as good as advertised and will be a starter for a couple of years, Holden looked sharp (subtract one bad mistake from both of those guys [two from Holden, to be fair and they were very good), and Jozy scored, which is nice to see.

I think Edu can play that center defense role if he gets time there. He won't for Rangers, but he's got the ability to play there. When Landon comes back, I'd like to see him on for Feilhaber, and then our lineup looks very, very nice.

Benjamin Feilhaber should not start any games with the national team. I like him as a change of pace, technical player off the bench. Unfortunately he goes all Benny the Ghost when starting.

Although to be fair our overall wing play last night was pretty lousy. Bedoya couldn't do anything when he entered the match. Nothing really happened on the left flank either.
