At least Omar owned it and took his lumps. I want them all to cry and to apologize.

He cannot help being a substandard oaf. He needs to retire from international play, and we can then forgive him.

The current MLS is okay for the U.S. program, but it's great for all other CONCACAF countries. We need to make MLS great for the U.S. or we're just wasting our time. Philadelphia Union should be producing a Christian Pulisic every 5 years or so. The clubs need to make investments in youth instead of parents having to work a second job to get their kids on a shitty travel team.

Yeah, you either build a youth academy to meet certain criteria or you're kicked out of the league. Spend the money or get the frick.

100% agree. We won’t ever relegate bad teams, but you should have to meet certain criteria if you want to keep all the benefits.

Amen. I don't give a crap about MLS, like I don't give a crap about the Zephyrs/Baby Cakes. It's a minor league product in the grand scheme.

I want the USMNT to be AT LEAST top of this pathetic region with Mexico. Anything less means firings or boycott of all of it.

I wish we would invest in the regional academies idea. The country is so large that it is difficult to implement ideas evenly, but with regional academies you at least localize development, and take it out of the hands of the clubs, who are self-interested, and see more value in spending money on some kid from South America rather than some kid in New York or whatever.

If you told 2006 me that Bruce Arena would manage the US in 2017, I would have told you to frick off

Hopefully, 2017 me is nicer when we're still doing the same shite 10 years from now

Good idea, but the USSF is never spending that money. At least if you put in guidelines and criteria, you're forcing clubs to spend it. Maybe you have regional academies and make clubs of that region split the cost and have first dibs on players from the region or something.

Yeah clubs sharing the burden across regions might give them some incentive. Regardless we need someone with actual experience developing a program, not the figurehead for it like we got in Klinsmann.

I think that would be interesting but doubt they go back to that model after shutting down the U17 residency program

I wonder how much the talent wasteland between Bradley's age group and Pulisic is due to the formation of and transition to the development academy model

Let's hope the developmental model bears fruit. It relies on clubs continuing to put money into youth. I don't recall if clubs get a share of the transfer fee for players, but increasing that amount can incentivize player development.

In my honest opinion, I don't see how anyone could look across this country and think the regional academy model isn't the best option.
