On their way to the preseason tour in New Zealand

Newcastle United have paid tribute to two supporters who were among those killed in the Malaysian Airlines crash on Thursday.
Two Newcastle fans were travelling to New Zealand for the club’s pre-season tour when MH17 was shot down over Ukraine.
John Alder, who was nicknamed ‘The Undertaker’ by fellow supporters because of his habit of wearing suits to matches, travelled to every game, home or away. It is thought Mr Alder, who was in his 60s, had only missed one game in more than 30 years due to a family bereavement.
He had flown with another Newcastle fan, 28-year-old Liam Sweeney, from Newcastle to Amsterdam to catch the Malaysian flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Its amazing how many English (and probably other European) clubs have fans like this. One of the City fans that took me to my first match many years ago missed two matches last year - his car broke down on the way to Hull and he skipped Moscow. He attended every other match, home and away, including Europe. Most of these fans aren't wealthy either. They just make sacrifices because the club is that important to them.
I've heard Newcastle will wear black armbands for their games in New Zealand. I hope they find a way to honor these two throughout this season.
