I'd be fine jettisoning Sturridge

He seems a natural goalscorer when played at striker. It would be silly to sell such a promsing prospect.

I don't think he's ever going to be better than a mid-table player.

He was by far Chelsea's most in form striker the second half of last season.

Why did City let Sturridge go for free anyway?

I don't like agreeing with an Arsenal supporter but I concur.

Send him to Tottenham. We could use another young goalscorer.

I disagree. He can play as a striker, a targetman, or as a wide player. I don't know if he'll ever be an elite player, but for me he'll always be a top-half player. If he doesn't get a shot at Chelsea, I could easily see Liverpool and Tottenham going after him while Man U and Arsenal would watch him closely.

Contract ran down. I'm sure they would have liked to keep him, especially with the new homegrown rules.

I know, but if he refused to resign when he had a year left why didn't they sell him.

Just seems like a young English striker would have too much value to get in that situation with.

With youth players its weird. He was in the last year of his contract the first year he started contributing. My guess is that in order to resign he wanted some assurances of a starting spot once he started playing. Man City actually get a lot of compensation for him, through some rule about the movement of players under 25, but not as much as they could have. Man City has already gotten around 6 mil for him, which could rise if he gets an international cap.

ETA: One of the Man City fans might know more about it. I was vaguely interested in the time because Sturridge said he was an Arsenal fan, and he would have been nice coming off the bench instead of Bendnter or Chamakh this last season.

Shoot, if theres one striker to keep its Sturridge, in my opinion.

Im a big Kalou fan, but he just didnt seem to fit in anywhere last season. But he is a workhorse.

And Anelka was solid in Cup play...not so much in League. I wouldnt mind seeing him and his 'tude depart

Despite Drogs' age, hes been hands down our best striker in recent years. Why get rid of him? Wait til he proves otherwise.

The same thing happened with Arsenal and Fran Merida. Allowing an 18 year old project go for free doesn't hurt a team nearly as bad as if Nasri were to leave Arsenal next year for free or if Ozil had left Bremen this year for free.

Arsenal bid of £10mil for Jagielka rejected. Apparently Everton will only considering selling if we offer £20mil, which ain't happenin'.

Me too. He has looked great in the CA.

In related Liverpool news, Aquilani said he would take a pay cut to go back to Serie A. He's on his way out I would imagine. What a shame.
