The only reason Dier's name is getting mentioned is because of the goal! Before the game everyone was hoping he would set up a starting role for next season.

Maybe. But throughout the game Dier outplayed Kaboul, IMO, goal or no goal. Kaboul is an obvious pick over Dawson, no doubt. But that doesn't mean he played well...he didn't.

How did capoue do sliding back to CB ?
He was okay. But he was sloppy (as was Kaboul) on the play that Hugo had to make a save late.
I don't think it's fair to criticize Capoue for that though. He was playing out of position when he had no time to prepare.
And I really liked him at defensive mid. He's a great ball challenger.

Capoue played well given the circumstances. It was a good thing he was on the pitch when Naughton was sent off.
Anyone know when they come out with red card review results? I have to believe that this one may get overturned.

It's a little late now but I'm pumped about the win! I started consistently following Tottenham half way through last year so this is my first full season... COYS!

Checked the stats on espn townsend and Lennon only missed one pass a piece

Townsend looks like his ankle healed nicely. He came in and gave a much needed energy boost yesterday. And that shot he had was an absolute SCREAMER.
Saw a rumor today that we turned down a £10 million offer from Southampton today for Townsend.

So our two big European preseason wins mean literally nothing at this point. Celtic's first team has been embarrassing, and we beat their 2nd/3rd teamers. But Schalke has been scary bad. They just lost a cup game to a team from the German 3rd division... ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Well shite
I was thinking after the excitement of that win Sat morning that Poch hasn't lost (or even tied) a game since taking the reigns. Guess that doesn't mean anything playing shitty teams and preseason.

We did tie Seattle, but I see your point.
I'm definitely still worried. I won't jump to any conclusions after last game, considering the circumstances, but I hope we can beat QPR soundly next weekend.
I'm assuming our Europa tie will be a simple win. If I'm wrong, we've got bigger problems.
Last year, we got off to a brutal start. We basically couldn't score goals. For a while, everyone praised our defense, but eventually the floodgates opened. It is vital that we gain some confidence in our ability to score goals.

Agreed. We need two very convincing wins. We need confidence in each other and the system.
Also Edan Hazard played today and so did Oscar and Scherlle. It's time for our World Cup players to suit the frick up and get it going.

Pool is right around the corner

Well that Limasool(sp) team didn't really get beaten bad by Zenit in there matchup I think (3-1) so it probably won't be as much as we would hope for. Also swagger would you care to explain the survivor rules that I'm misunderstanding plz.
Posted on 8/18/14 at 10:51 pm to Westlakeguy10
Yeah, man. You can only pick each club once all season. So you officially can't use Spurs again. If the team you pick is on the road, you survive as long as they at least draw. If it's at home, they must win.

Ok well what theoretically happens if you make it to week 20 does it reset ? Or has no body made it that far before

Also on a different note who looked scary this weekend? I personally thought Chelsea looked really good Fabergas made them loads better on offense. Also Man City looked good other than that Arsenal, Pool, Man U and Everton obviously not really in form rite now being the start of the season but nothing to great looking from any of there performances.

Yeah. It is usually done by Christmas. And then it starts over.

Chelsea looked good, but Burnley is really mediocre. City also looked good, but they were a lucky rebound away from only winning 1-0.
I think Southampton looked better than most thought they would.
Liverpool won, but they looked sloppy.
League is wide open. But I'm most worried about us right now.

I think we got unlucky with the red card so really didn't get to see us play Poch's still with the full team for the full 90. Really want walker an Vertongen back so we can see what we really have what's the time table on walker coming back. I think Dier mite have worked himself in front of Kaboul.
Posted on 8/19/14 at 6:49 am to Westlakeguy10
Earliest walker can be back is after the international break in mid September.
Swag - I agree it was good they got one extra week off. But seriously if we would have lost to West Ham again!!! I'm glad we really have 3 games to get our stuff together for pool.
