theoretical...

league 1 club goes on a miracle run and wins the FA Cup the year before. the club then finishes 4th in league 1 and advances to the final of every competition possible

Community Shield (1)
League 1 (46)
Europa League playoff round (2)
Europa League group stage (6)
Europa League knockout rounds (9)
FA Cup with replays every round (14)
League Cup (6)
League 1 promotion playoffs (3)
League Trophy (7)

94 matches talk about fixture congestion

edit... they changed the europa league format

that's why a winter break would be useful for the EPL

I;m against a winter break. the close proximity of the games is great, I'm pretty sure attendances are up as kids are off school and its pretty unique.
I would however either start the season earlier or end later(or a mixture of the two)
But its the double edge of success, if you asked that team would they like to have to play those games they would say yes.

it's entertaining and fan pleasing, yes, but I feel that it's more pragmatic and fairer to the players to give them recuperation time. I can only imagine how ragged and broken down a player's body can become throughout the season.

Another part of being a good manager s managing your players aswell though, making usre you have the depth to cope with the winter break, and making sure you have your guys fitness levels up to that scratch.

It's also not AM.football though, its more fitness than your body breking down and i think its sometimes a cop out

ridiculous. If you sprain an ankle or knee in week one, but you choose to play through it, that shite never has a chance to heal. It constantly is aggravated. Same for hamstrings, shins, hips and whatever else. Typically when you get some lingering injury it takes away from your fitness levels because you can't train as hard. It's a downward cycle that could only be helped by a winter break.

It's true, my senior year I sprained my ankle and dislocated something in my foot. I played the whole season, my ankle was swollen until after the season. The only way to heal those nagging injuries is to not play.

ETA - If coach would have put me in, we would have won state.
