I had the first pick the year Hazard tanked. Second should be fun/terrifying.

I did okay picking 10th. If I wouldn't have taken Payet that would've helped. I also took Pogba in the supplemental draft and United had him playing deep in the midfield most of the season.

So I have 1st pick? Not 1st choice of where to pick?

Are we turning this into the draft thread or you making a new thread?

Zlatan was 2nd pick last year. No 2nd pick shall ever be greater.

The site should be ready to go. everyone has a team name as well. Just let me know what you want yours to be. There is no rush. This can be done at any time.

Thread will be starting probably tomorrow night since the draft will not begin until Thursday at the earliest.

I think him and Matic should not be picked in the first five rounds. Both of those guys are almost certainly gone from Chelsea. Any move in the first five rounds is some chicanery to move up in the supplemental draft. But if Costa is somehow still a Chelsea player and you want to risk a 12th round pick on the chance he stays and plays before January, I don't have a problem with that.

ETA: I don't know if there are any other big names that are clearly leaving, but those are the ones I'm fairly certain of because they're completely MIA.

Last year his future was up in the air, and I wouldn't have been mad if he left and Bleed jumped me in the supplemental draft. I'd be really mad if somebody took him and then jumped me and the person picking 10th this year, though.

Yeah but then you are trading a late round pick to move up in the supplemental, whereas just letting someone pick him early they are wasting an early round pick. The risk/reward is much more favorable the later you draft a player on the way out.

You only move up in the supplemental draft if you lose a player you took in the first five rounds.

ETA: The rule

quote:

If you lose a drafted player you drafted in the first five rounds to a league outside the PL, then you jump to first in the supplemental draft order. If two owners lose a player, then the team of the higher drafted player lost picks first. This rule only applies if you keep that player on your roster from the start of the season through the supplemental draft. You must act in good faith and not intentionally draft someone who is all but guaranteed to depart from the PL in the coming days. Furthermore, the player you draft has to be a reasonable draft pick for the first five rounds. Moving up to first in the supplemental draft is subject to league review.

Yeah that rule is definitely not perfect. I think you have to draft with integrity. We all should know who is on their way out.

You can't draft a shite DEF from a relegation fodder club on his way tGOATpionship in round five.

Costa is an interesting cause he has serious value. Matic is an unacceptable pick. If we think it gets resolved in the next few days, we can delay the start of the draft.

Last year, Costa wasn't in open rebellion with the club/manager and partying in Brazil with an Atleti top. Last year taking him wasn't questionable. If you take him this year, you know exactly what you're doing.

What do you think the chance he stays is? You are obviously following way closer than I am.

1 percent. It's theoretically possible that he stays, but it's just a matter of finding where he's going at this point.

Conte said the other day he made the decision to sell him in January.

5% chance he ends up training by himself or with the reserve team while still technically a Chelsea player. But the club has moved on from him.

The only hold up is Atleti can't bring him in right away. They're trying to work out a place to loan him (likely Milan) until he can join them in January because of their transfer ban. This is what Conte said two days ago about Diego:

quote:

“I want to tell one thing to clarify the situation because in January the situation was very clear for the club, the player, for Costa, for his agent that when we arrived in June then it would be finished.

“It was very clear from January. I took this decision in January and I respected my decision. Now we have to build, we have to build with the new players and with these players you won two leagues and arrived once in tenth.

“In January it was very clear, every situation was very clear: for the club, his player, his agent, it was very clear.

I just think it would be dumb to reward someone with the first pick in the supplemental draft for taking Diego in the 5th round when there's almost no risk they end up stuck with a guy who doesn't contribute on their roster.

Good enough for me. Luckily, the above rules should cover it all.

Or we scrap the rule altogether. Drafter beware.
