leeds needed width bad and we found a way to create some

quote:

McDermott’s system was a notable break from other formations used by him and he went further in his overhaul by recalling Scott Wootton, Luke Murphy and Sam Byram and leaving Paul Green and Noel Hunt out of his squad completely.

Byram and Stephen Warnock were used as wing-backs to impressive effect and McDermott said: “We wanted to get some width.

“My teams have always had width and anyone who watched my Reading side will know that.

“I don’t know if I’ll stick with (the formation) but I felt it was right today.

“We set that back-five up against Rotherham in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday and we looked really good. We’d been working on that for 10 days, we haven’t just gone into it.”

McDermott held a lengthy meeting with his players before training on Friday morning to discuss the failures of the past month and underline the importance of a period in which Leeds play

stick with it till we lose IMO. byram is perfect for that role. warnock not as much but you could do worse. aidy white FTW

Played half-arse properly, you can seriously frick shite up in rec/adult soccer with a 3-5-2.

People are so used to attacking a 4-4-2, and having space in the midfield that the 5 midfielders look like 24 midfielders.

It takes A LOT of discipline from the two holding mids, but if you're ever on the shite side of a serious talent mismatch, try it out.

My adult league team plays this and so far we gave won 9-1 and 9-2 against decent teams. Like said above, the midfield is amazing with this formation.

i love it so far. best fit for our current squad. the 4-1-2-1-2 diamond was okay but we just needed width in the worst way.
