This is my biggest gripe with it. They need the rest. But concacaf wants the money so it will never change.

Yea but bc USSF signed off on it Pville is all for it

Wasting our summers vs subpar competition is not what the national team needs to grow

So what should U-23s that aren’t really in the mix for starting senior team spots be doing right now?

What they been doing unfortunately our regions youth tournaments are not very competitive

Last time we were in the Toloun tournament we did pretty well

Would be great to get an invite to the South American tournaments

But that’s the hand we are dealt so just beat Mexico and make the Olympics. With our talent levels now we should be beating those weaker sides in the Olympics

Ok... so have you been trolling folks about this, or is it just a circular argument that you stole up when this discussion arises?

If they are doing everything they can by going hard in the Olympics as youngsters, just cheer them on man. Don’t bitch about what they should be doing.

And for the record, that’s not me being asinine. I rather enjoy our interactions.

It’s just the point that in the overall scheme of things is not an important tournament that has high quality

Years ago it was definitely more important for us bc our players were at the same level as most the teams even the B/C squads from the better countries

But now we are levels better and should roll through the tournament bc it’s a step down.

If the under 18 or 20 WC is going on the kids need to be involved in that

I can agree with that point.

I been watching you go back and forth with the fellas here, and I couldn’t tell if you were trolling a few of them or if there was just a fundamental understanding of your points to each other.

Also, your morals are sound in forbidding yourself to agree with Sir Winston.

That year also had
Ginter
Süle
Gnabry
Brandt
Son Haong Min
Neymar
Gabriel Jesus
Ángel Correa
Marquinhos
Klostermann
Shoya Nakajima
Hwang Hee-chan

All but Ginter, klostermann,Hwang and Angel Correa (who were just knocked out). Are in champions league final 8.
List is only goal scorers. Didn’t look at actual squads.

Dude. SCH. Like the discussion. I Try to look up random crap mainly to educate myself and keep discussion going on here and to keep up with my people skills. Hope you and the family are doing well wherever you are now. Jealous you’ve been to some of the grounds you’ve been to.
I’ve only been to Chicago v timber’s in Chicago’s Toyota stadium(bastian Schweinsteiger) with whole family
Jesters in pan am stadium back in the day- just me and friends
Timber v zlatan and LA- just me and boy(very nice fans)
But fondest watching soccer memory was watching jermaine Jones missile Portugal in Little Rock AR pizza joint with my family and my boy on my shoulders to see over crowd spilling beers everywhere

And they went out in the Quarters.

End of day, the Olympics aren’t the best tournament in the world. It’s at an awkward time with awkward restrictions, but if teams qualify, there are a number of great players who take an interest in it, presumably because of what an Olympic gold medal means.

You could say a lot of what you’ve posted about European teams for virtually any youth tournament outside of the U21s, and I certainly wouldn’t value Toulon, which I’ve watched a decent amount of over the years, over the Olympics. Not that Toulon is bad or anything, but I think you’re overplaying Toulon and downplaying the Olympics.

Bunch of fricking second rate scrubs who should be playing in the Toulon tournament instead of the olympics no one cares about

I know you can read

I never said the tournament doesn’t have a few good players once in a while

But overall the level isn’t very good

Saying someone like PEA played isn’t helping esp bc the country he plays for and how terrible the team is

It definitely has down years especially when the youth world cups and euros are being played

At the end of the day if more nations respected the Olympic tournament it could have so much potential

But it will always come second in terms of team selection for bigger nations when they have youth WC or euros going on

If I’m visiting the USA soccer museum or whatever they may have(or if some average soccer fan is visiting it). If they have a display of the USA team on the gold medal podium at an Olympic I’d think that’s pretty cool. If they had a display of some u- pick a number they have so many WC (name your youth tournament here)-“watered down” is a phrase I always read in here when they have a lot of something more than every 4 years. I’m probably going to skip over it.

I’ll be happy with progress of actually going to the Olympic.
Considering we haven’t qualified for anything in over a decade

Haití only has 10 players available and on the field due to violations of Covid protocols including not even getting tested in time.
