Liverpool are confident of completing deals for free agents James Milner and Danny Ings this summer.

Also says we're looking at Carvalho, Pjanic, and Benteke.
The last 3 are probably more rumor, but the Ings and Milner look pretty likely confirmed by James Pearce. I like Milner and think he'd fit in pretty well as a utility player and I'm ok with Ings to basically take Borini's spot. We still need a better striker and I'd prefer someone who fits better than Benteke, even though he's good. We need someone who's active, run channels, and can press.
As for the lineup, I'm glad Sinclair's getting a shot. Wish Markovic could get a game as a winger and we would go back to the smaller, interchanging front 3 or 4 that was so successful earlier in the year. And not excited to see Can at RB again, especially if Hazard is playing....

I don't mind Milner or Ings, in the proper context of our transfer strategy... but if those are top of the list... frick off! 2 out of contract players...
I would love Carvalho over Pjanic, because he's a greater need and I don't think we could afford both... Benteke is so mehhh... and for the amount they are likely to ask for him, I don't want... If Studge was an iron man, Benteke would probably be a solid change of pace, but IMO we need someone who can be prepared to be our main striker (especially since Studge will be out at the start. Daniel, ????, Ins and Origi...
The FB choices for today are so depressing... I'd love to see Gerrard as the DLP with Hendo and Can doing the running and dirty work in front of him...

I agree with your Benteke assessment, with the exception that seeing a fromt 3 that includes he, Studge and Coutinho is intriguing to me.
Are there NO pure strikers available? It seems like the comittee/Rodgers are trying to get high class shite at a ghetto flea market. (Not being racist...

Sure we've got several places we could probably upgrade or use competition, but I wouldn't be the least bit disappointed to see us splash some cash for a midfielder and striker who can walk in to the first time.
Pjanic seems to be pretty affordable and I like the idea of him and Hendo in front of Can or Lucas if he's still here. Then some links, though probably BS, with Aubemayang. He'd be a great fit as well and they'll be having a lot of roster turnover this summer along with Klopp so not sure if he'd be available or for how much. Nonetheless, he'd be intriguing.

I think you are going to have to stump up some cash to get a "can't miss" guy (I know there's no such thing)... and they may want UCL football.
I believe there are players in the £20-30mm range, on the younger side, that come with a bit of risk... Or the slightly cheaper that may come with injury/attitude issues (see Balo)... We always seem to be a day late on the value... we were tracking Jackson Martinez while he was in Mexico and could be had for peanuts... Bony when he was in the dutch league and scoring for fun..
I think Lacazette is the perfect choice, but everyone wants him, so we have little to no chance... Dybala and Icardi will cost a pretty penny and are highly rated.. Vietto seems to be a decent target...
If I could see one bigger name that MAY be attainable, but it would cost... it would be Higuain..
I'd love to see us go after Jovetic for £15mm, but he has had some injury issues too (I have an infatuation with these guys... see Pato

I like him... but something about him scares me in the EPL... depends on the £

We're at year late on Lacazete again. Our chance to get him was last year. Now the price has skyrocketed, and he'll have more suitors, probably even PSG.
Big name strikers are Falcao and Cavani, but they're not worth the price IMO.
Like TFTC said, we'll have to find a younger up and comer in the 20-30m range

I know Cavani gets bagged on, but I'd take him if the price was right... but that's a pipe dream, it would never happen.. I'm just talking from an ability on the pitch perspective..

quote:I was very skeptical when we were interested the first go round and BvB snatched up, but from what I've seen, he's performed well there and I'm more convinced now. Sure he's thin, but he's a burner, and he'll press all day.

quote:i know he's been playing more out of position at PSG, and I'm sure he could find his Napoli form, but he's getting older and I don't think we could justify paying his price tag for 1-2 years of production, and I don't think FSG will either.
Cavani

at the reported £15mm, absolutely... for £25mm... i wouldn't..
I forget what BvB paid for him though...
part of me is scared of him being a Loic Remy v2

Just prepare yourselves for another dogshit transfer window.
We're a complete joke when it comes to signing players.
Proven once again with Depay.

Im always prepared for that... but Depay is not an example I'd cite as a reason...
damn, Johnson can get into some dangerous areas with zero end product

I'll put 100 on Remy scoring against us.
We were so dumb not signing him . WTF is wrong with us?
Even with a possible heart hing or whatever it was, he was 100% worth it at 16M.

At least we're pressing and attacking today.
Fabregas should be off after that. How is that not a foul?

I think it was like £8.5mm...

Yea you're right.
I must have been quoting dollaz.
I still thought he would have fit well into our system. Did they ever come out with what the medical thing was? I always assumed a murmur or something?

not sure the exact issue, but it was with his heart... That was the issue when we originally were looking to sign him before he went to Marseille (under Hodgson)..
Of course, he's played for 4 clubs since without it being an issue... Our luck, he'd drop dead during the photo shoot, minutes after he signed..

Sorry hog, meant to upvote.
I think I am getting on the "savk Rodgers" bus. There is no reason we should possess the striking talent we have and get nothing out of it.
Also, I don't care what anyone says, I want Sterling gone.
