I was able to catch the Atlanta And LAFC game this weekend and have several things to say.

Firstly I want to say that Atlanta has something really special. That was an amazing experience. The fans were fantastic the atmosphere was amazing and the stadium blew me away( yes I know it’s a billion dollar multi sport arena. And that Mercedes lounge was surreal)
I really can’t get over how Atlanta has such great attendance. Not only that, I saw people all over the town in United gear. They actually care.
Now that I’m done gushing about the fans, the stadium and attendance let me address the brand. Atlanta United is a perfect name. I don’t know enough about the history and idc if they didn’t unite a bunch of local organizations into one Atlanta United but it works and has United all soccer fans in Atlanta. Ontop of the name the logo and colors are fantastic. They fit in around yhe city and look modern and elegant. The uniforms are great too. I actually wasn’t a fan of the white and orange on display this weekend but the usual home kits are one of the best in the league.

I hope Atlanta is a sign of things to come and it looks like it will because the league also did an amazing job with LAFC. A simple name without something stupid like Galaxy or dynamo. They also have great colors, kits, logo and merchandise. They look like a legitimate organization. Hopefully the league will look at rebranding some existing teams to match the standards LAFC and Atlanta have.

Now to the good stuff, and where I’ll resort to my usual behavior.

The mls fricking sucks.
How do you hire Brad Bobley to coach your soccer team? Because he got lucky once in a World Cup. The dude sucked arse all over Europe. Couldn’t get Egypt to a World Cup. Has the worst stint in English league by any coach and yet mls decides to hire him? They give him an amazing team and what does he do? Drop a 3 goal lead to cross town rivals and lose 5-0 to a team with a hodgepodge defense. Stupid.

Also even though I had fun the soccer I saw on display was atrocious.

Oh and I know y’all will like this( if you’ve read this far) that number 10 for Atlanta. He’s not that good. Lost the ball a ton in midfield, would wait for the ball to come to him only to have a defender step up and steal it and then wouldn’t drop back and help at all in defense.
He got lucky on his assist. And two pks. Not impressed.

P. S. That ref sucked and so did his use of VAR, which also sucks

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not.

You obviously know who he is because you know people talk about him. Miguel Almiron is a very good player, and he's very young with tons of room to grow. Pairings like Almiron and Martinez is what will grow the MLS. So shut your damn mouth

Staebek and Le Havre were legitimate contenders under him. Swansea was a dumpster fire regardless of who took over at that time.

CAF qualifying is by far the luckiest/unluckiest WCQ process outside of UEFA and if not for drawing Ghana, Egypt probably would've qualified in the midst of a fricking revolution.

Once again, you've proven yourself the fool.

Is this where you tell us you should/could be starting at the 10 for Atlanta if you wanted to?

I agree with you that Atlanta United and LAFC are both model organizations with bright futures. Atlanta gives the South a big team and LAFC gives our biggest soccer city a stable second franchise. (Chivas USA became a complete shitshow and embarrassment to the league under Jorge Vergara’s ownership.) I have no doubt both MLS and US Soccer will reap the rewards in the long term.

However, I think you’re being a bit harsh on Bradley. He’s easily a top 5 manager in MLS right now, which is saying something, because the quality of MLS managers has improved rapidly in the past 5 years.

Don’t forget LAFC is a first-year expansion team. Historically, those rarely do well in the first year. Atlanta United did great, but most expansion teams fare more like Minnesota in the first year. LAFC has some great players, but also guys like Kaye and Moutinho that wouldn’t start for most MLS teams. Their third DP will join the team in a few months, and their second DP should heal from injury soon. We’ll see how good they are by September. The Western Conference is down this year, so don’t be surprised if they make the playoffs.

I’ve heard Moutinho has been solid though.

He’s done pretty well so far, but got exposed pretty bad against Atlanta. I think he’ll be a fine MLS player in the long-term, but I’m not sure you want to rely on a rookie at left back as an expansion team. He’s good, but there will be a steep learning curve.
