MLS Schedule question

MLS Commissioner Don Garber previously stated the league was looking into changing to a fall-to-spring format, but has since said no such change will take place "any time soon." Said Garber: "To think about playing in Toronto in January or December, it's hard to imagine we are going to be able to do that."
That makes sense to me except that Germany and England are on the same latitude as Canada so I assume they have the same issues with the winter weather.
How are they able to do that and the MLS isn't? Is it just because if the MLS season was fall to spring it would conflict with football?

This is why I think Garber won't budge. He may say it's about weather and all that, but it would be suicide to go up against the NFL for the majority of their season.

Like Minnesota vs Seattle different.
Extreme cold and harsher conditions.
England and Germany have a very mild winter compared to other places at that latitude. The ocean currents really help them out.

also MLS depends a lot more on casual fans who won't go anywhere other than a sunny 70 degree day...
