Does he retire this year after they botch another international tournament?
Or does he come back for one more next year?

Retires then suddenly unretires the week before the rosters are due for Copa 2020.

Also GOATnaldo>>>Messi and the international trophies solidified it.

When he retires, Argentina might win another World Trophy

They are forced to play his game, which leaves many other players frustrated and not getting touches. He will be easily replaced, team will be much better, as everyone has their own roles and can play them.

He should continue on for another year but I wonder if his issue is psychological while playing for Argentina. Could it be he is trying too hard to prove his worth to Argentina? Messi is a legend, but after the last two WC's, he underachieved, especially with someone of his greatness.

They give him the ball and stand around and watch

Is that his fault or theirs? I’m not sure

But I do agree as a team they would function better if they played as a team not a one man show, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s addition by subtraction.

This is no slight at Messis ability just an observation as to how they play

UCL semis vs Liverpool they did the exact same thing when all they needed was a goal
