As a wide midfielder Milner is fine defensively. He's even played some RB, though I don't remember how he performed. You need a winger to track his wingback; if he's putting in tackles at your 18 then there is something else going on. Milner always wanted to play CM, where he is very average, instead of wide, where he is pretty good.

quote:Yeah, I was more than happy with how Milner played last year on the left, and wanted him to stay. Like I said, I heard Liverpool promised him time at CM, and that was a big part of his decision. Whether it's true or not, can't say.

I'd be fine with Navas as a squad player on the right, but the team needs a real offensive threat with a similar work rate. Otherwise they're going to continue to be an unbalanced team that can either attack or defend, but rarely both in the same game.

Madrid looked sort of toothless at times
Early goal + being throatfricked countless times on the counter over the past few years + City not pushing very hard = Bale and Jese/Lucas Vasquez spending a lot of their time behind the ball. Isco, Modric, and Kroos (who was fantastic today--I usually shite on him) simply aren't intelligent enough defensively to do anything but play conservatively when there's no reason to do otherwise.

Even though we aren't in the final, I'm very excited for the game.
