Looks like I'm going to my first MLS match

So the San Jose Earthquake(s) are playing the Seattle Sounders here in San Francisco at Kezar Stadium and our soccer team has decided to partake in the spectacle.
I have a few questions for the avid MLS followers:
Is $25 expensive for a MLS match? Its General Admission seating and Kezar seats 9,044.
What is the U.S. Open Cup about?
Any decent players on either team?
How much will I have to drink to enjoy the soccer that will be played?

I enjoy MLS soccer. You like West Ham, right? MLS quality is about Championship level. Some disagree with my assessment.

Championship level, eh? Hadn't heard that before, but I am sure it will be a great time. We are having drinks before the match.
We play pickup soccer on this pitch at Kezar Stadium so it will be interesting to see people that actually play well on the field.

The midtable and lower level Championship teams would line up pretty even with most MLS teams, I believe. MLS is definitely a second-tier league, below EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1.

The top teams in those leagues are better than MLS teams, but, like the Championship, I think they could hang with most of those league teams.

Gosh I hate admitting this. But, WarSlamEagle, a Manchester United fan, is stating facts.

I also will be attending my first MLS match. On Saturday I will be at the Dynamo vs Union game.
Since this is the soccer board, I'm requesting outfit advice. I will be wearing one of the following:
1. Red Stick Outlaws T-Shirt
2. USA away jersey
3. Tottenham Third jersey
The outfit will be completed with flip flops and inappropriately short cut off jorts. This part is not negotiable.
Also, since I will be in Houston, does anyone know where I can get a cowboy hat that says frick MEXICO?

The big problem with gauging MLS's competitive level is how the salary cap affects squad depth. For the most part, the teams in those leagues listed don't have to deal with a financial barrier restricting player acquisitions. The best starting XI for several MLS teams could easily compete against some of the better sides in all but the best leagues in the world. However, the cap leaves almost no room for squad rotation or even quality reserve players. This is why you get odd results in cup competitions featuring MLS clubs.

We're looking at seats in Red Bull Arena in the 200 (middle) level next month and they're 28ish.

As I'll say in an article that comes out tomorrow, the cap allows for great competitive balance inside the league, something most leagues don't have. Designated Players keep the league relevant on an international level. But depth is a huge problem. Huge.

All I know is yesterday's NYRB-DCU match was awesome. Plenty of quality even with the replacements.
