Good suggestions so far in this thread:
Newcastle...definitely on the up swing, great rivalry with Sunderland, passionate fans, fun to watch most if the time
Spurs...loaded team, a couple of rivalries in London, and they have Gareth Bale (unfortunately, their manager is pegged to take the England job and Tottenham may suffer greatly if he does)
West Ham United...this would be my recommendation, they're my second favorite team. Probably going to get promoted at seasons end. If you get into the promotion battle now, it may endear you to them down the road. London based, big club, good fans, hated rivalry with Millwall, plus they have a cool name...the Hammers.
Apparently Swansea City is a popular choice. They can be fun to watch, but I see them taking a turn for the worse when they have to sell Vorm (their amazing young keeper) off to buy other players.
Probably the best advice I can give you is just start watching...more often than not your club chooses you, not the other way around. Good luck.

5. Bolton

This. Instead we're stuck with Serie A.

Seems to be a prevailing opinion (at least on this board) in America..
Does their style of play resonate more with us? Or do we just hate whistling, diving, and italians?

Spurs should be 19.

I'm not a longtime Arsenal fan so I don't have the same deep seated hatred of some clubs. I do however hate buck toothed south american divers, so they're 19.

I think so. I love watching Leverkusen.
I rarely watch Serie A. I'd rather watch Ligue 1.

I don't really hate them.. I'm just tired of their Yankee act lately.

I do...and frick City and every other team in England for letting them get to 20. If the OP has any sense he won't even consider UTD.

Watch a more entertaining brand of soccer. The Bundesliga.

If we're talking leagues, the only two that should even be considered are La Liga and Serie A. That's because those other leagues play too gd early for anyone in our hemisphere to catch more than a few games a season.

Guys like us make time for EPL matches. That or we DVR.

The amount of premier league matches that I catch over the duration of a season is inversely proportional to my alcohol consumption during that same time period

I see no love for Chelsea in here so I have to spread he cheer. Chelsea is the pride of London and the club is setting the trend with their nee pop culture attitude lol. If you could put an soccer club in Beverly hills, that is Chelsea in some sense. They have not always been like that but with roman the Russian, they are very posh now

(I honestly have no idea about anything London related, but as an Arsenal fan, I felt this needed laughing at)

The worst part about this year is that you're right. And I hate admitting it.

Disagree. I thought it did last year. But that's debatable.
