C'mon man, you know that's just not true. On top of what Cwill already said, Beckham's move helped stabilize the league and increased attention to it which helped them build to expansion and much better (and richer) tv deals. His impact off the field dwarfs anything he did on it.

No one knew shite about MLS when Beckham first went over there. I saw multiple people wearing LAG jerseys in London shortly after the transfer. Surprised the hell out of me.
