Discusses some things that I have seen previously on the Soccer Board.
I tweeted the guy a couple of questions that I wanted some clarification about.
First, where do these MLS academy coaches come from? And what happened to the former top club coaches and Olympic Regional Development coaches? Did they jump to the Academies or what?
Second, I think his final point about academics taking a huge hit due to the rigorous structure of the soccer academies is a bit overblown. I bet a significantly higher percentage of kids pass more rigorous qualifying standards for soccer than basketball and football, so I asked for some context.

Lalas is not a very soccer savvy person. Yeah, you miss out on some of the social stuff but the academies can be creative in dealing with that.
