Woah, if that's the case then this is a coup for Toronto. That's only 2.5 million dollars a season. That can't be right...

yea everything else has reported 7 mil a year

quote:

Juventus playmaker Sebastian Giovinco has signed a Major League Soccer contract and will join Toronto FC this summer, the club announced on Monday.

Details of the contract were not announced, though the Toronto Sun reported that Giovinco had lined up a five-year deal worth more than $7 million a year. If the contract figure is accurate, Giovinco's total compensation could allow him to surpass Orlando City's Kaka as the highest-paid player in MLS.

The Juventus and Italy playmaker Sebastian Giovinco is set to join Major League Soccer side Toronto FC, the Canadian and Italian media reported on Sunday.

They said an announcement was expected imminently for the transfer of the 27-year-old nicknamed the “Atomic Ant”, who will be out of contract with the Serie A leaders in July. There was no comment from either club.

Canadian media reported the four-year deal would be worth $7m (£4.6m) a year, making him the second highest-paid player in the MLS after Orlando City’s Brazilian midfielder Kaká. The exact timing of the move remained unclear, with the MLS season starting in March.

Giovinco, 27, will arrive from reigning Italian champions Juventus following the conclusion of the current Serie A season. The man they call the “Atomic Ant” in his homeland will link up with Greg Vanney’s squad after signing a reported five-year contract with Toronto for over $7 million per year, according to the Toronto Sun. If true, Giovinco would surpass Kaka’s salary at Orlando City of $6.6 million which is currently the highest in MLS history.

No. Doyle hasn't been at Wolves lately. He's been at Crystal Palace.

He played 5 matches at Palace before they terminated his loan and sent him back.

Guess we'll find out the true number one day. At a mid table serie A side he could expect to make 1.2 to 1 million a year. So the doubled €2.5 mil a year makes sense to me, not the €8.6 a year.

If the latter is true, home boys agent is gonna have players flocking to him

Every other news outlet is saying 7 million dollars a year.

Even his wikipage says it

To bad not every club can pay these wages

Pretty much LA, Seattle and Toronto can afford 3-5 high priced DP's but even then that would eat up their profit margins.

But they are using the Leafs to fund TFC basically.

MLSE (Leafs parent organization) is basically a money machine. As long as the Leafs are in commercial demand, they will continue to overpay for fringe players for TFC.

Should have built a better stadium with that money.

Its basically an erector set. Looks like a HS football stadium when you see it in person.

Aren't they doing a full blown renovation at BMO? I am pretty sure they are.

I know they want to make it expandable up to 40k for CFL games. But its such a basic stadium they should just tear it down and start over.

Aren't you thinking of the Crew Stadium? That is an erector set HS stadium. Great at the time they built it, but so amateur now. I admit I have never been to BMO.

Somewhat similar, but BMO has seats...not those bleachers. Those bleachers are just amateur hour in comparison to rest of the league
