I was able to watch the Arsenal-Stoke replay last night, and was a bit suprised to find Geoff Cameron playing center mid. A la Tim Ream and Bolton last year.

What are the SB's thoughts on this development. Good or bad for the USMNT. Should help his confidence on the ball, but he's losing out on valuable experience by not playing at center half.

I'm fairly certain his future with the US is as a center half, if for no other reason than our lack of depth there.

He played midfield for several years for the dynamo. As long as he's playing it doesn't really matter to me, but I don't see him starting over shawcross, upton and huth at CB.

He may play some CB for Stoke but I don't care what position he is playing as long as he is playing.

He doesn't have a spot has CM for the USMNT as far as i'm concerned barring unforseen injuries. His future is as a CB.

With that said, any PT is good PT and I'm happy he performed well in his first game for stoke. Playing a holding central midfielder role may actually enhance is CB skills. One of the USMNT weaknesses is distribution out of the back 4. Having some time in the center of the field could help him improve this tremendously. I'm being optimistic but who knows.

That's one of his strengths as a CB. As I mentioned earlier he played for years in the midfield, both in the center and on the right.

I watched the Stoke v Arsenal game and he was great at CDM. He is easily our best option there but we have a greater need at CB. Cameron may very well be our best CB at the moment. Hopefully Ream can steadily improve. He looked solid at time in the EPL last year. They could make a good partnership.

Id have to go back and look at stats from the game, but i do recall he made 7 tackles. Which is actually really good. He might have led both teams.

It will be worth it when Cameron Shawcrosses a Mexican.
