Apparently he was responding to some Americans talking shite to him or something.
It's just the way things go. Americans start fights and shite, while the Brits bring up tragic events in history and use it as shite-talking ammo against another group of people.
Although I do enjoy that song about the planes and bombs English footy fans sing to the Germans.

Like losing a war to a bunch of colonists? I guess I'd be butthurt too if I was British and the Americans were better at soccer than England is.

Looks like some butthurt Brit downvoted you. Still bitter about that tea dumping. Also, we've done better than them at the last two WCs
