I'd go with Henderson...

Damn Shelvey... Looking really good and now we're down to 10...

Hoping to hold on for the point...

Sterling has created the same amount of chances as the whole United team. We needed to get a goal while the momentum and energy were high. Damn.

Rodgers passing system just breaks down in the final 3rd or at least there's just no quality there to actually turn it into anything.

Borini is just not very good (completely botched the one smooth flowing attempt we had) and Suarez's moments of magic seem like the only hope.

Shelvey, never even actually touched Evans

It's all about intent. When you dive into a tackle like that you are daring the ref to show you red. Just an all around horrible tackle.

Yea but it was the intent. He went into that tackle like a wild child. That's why its a red.

Exactly. It wasn't even a foul. That's what I've been trying to say.

His intent was to win the ball, which he did. His intent wasn't to injure. He even kept his studs down.

Johny Evans went in with two feet, studs up...

Ive said from the beginning Jonjo's challenges are gonna a)hurt someone b)get him sent off... I just dont think that was a straight red... I can see the other side of the argument...

it's a shitty challenge and you open yourself to getting fricked on a judgment call but the more you look at that Evans could have gone off as well

Evans' tackle was just as bad as Shelvey's. Like Neville just said, its a 50/50 ball and both players dove in recklessly. Could have been 2 reds, 2 yellows or 2 warnings. Shelvey got bit with the red but it's nobody's fault but his own.

Only because the ref is a fricking idiot.

Yea no matter who he would have injured along the way. Watch the whole sequence of play. He was out of control before the Evan's challenge. And just because Shelvey got lucky and didn't make contact doesn't mean it wasn't a terrible tackle. And this is from someone who is pulling hard for Pool ask Beast.

It's not a dire situation yet. I can't stress enough how important it was to not surrender a goal to United in the closing minutes after Jonjo's sending off. Going into HT down 1 man, down 1 goal would have been absolutely devastating.

That said, with the right substitution we can still pull this through. Like Beast says, it's all about controlling the middle of the field. Even prior to the red I didn't feel Shelvey was playing particularly well. Too many giveaways.
