Real Madrid vs Barcelona
10:15 Central on bein

quote:

The future of Real Madrid's under-fire coach, Julen Lopetegui, hangs in the balance.

A poor start to the season and fan unrest sees the fate of Lopetegui being decided against the club's fiercest rivals. A win, and the pressure is eased off the manager's back and Real Madrid wins bragging rights, as well as moving to within one point of Barcelona in the standings.

A defeat? Lopetegui could be looking for a new job on Monday.

With the injured Lionel Messi on the sidelines, Barca's expensively-assembled squad needs to prove that it is more than a one-man team. Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele were brought in for a cost of $250 million for matches just like Sunday's. A defeat will see Barca's expensive project derailed.

Mess out with a broken arm. Real needs to get back on track and score some goals.

I’m cautiously optimistic we pull it out due to Messi being hurt, but we have been in terrible form.

Yup, only thing is if they lose zidane is still available. Maybe he could come back.

Wish Navas would get the start, but courtois it is.

If this is the Matchday thread, here's your weekly reminder that the EPL still doesn't have VAR.

Suarez comes from behind but is goalside of Varane, who tried to make up for the position, which led to him getting tangled with Suarez.

Definitely a pen

At first it looked like Varane touched the ball first

The lack of effort and sloppiness from Madrid is pathetic.

Welp that’s ball game. Would be nice if one of the best young attacking players in the world wasn’t sitting in the bench while we are down a goal (2 now).

Oh look Vidal is coming on, he will probably claim and relish this victory even though he did nothing.

ETA: this game really isnt on Courtois, but what player/s could they have gotten to replace ronaldo rather than buy courtois? Navas is a great keeper.

And now Vidal scores.

Lopetegui should just leave now. Like go away. Take a cab home.
