There’s two different discussions going on here. At U10 (9 years old) he needs touches on the ball. Period. Not tactics, formations or any of that. As he gets older, sure, he could benefit from an A licensed coach. But you can also have a coach with an A license that has a lot of knowledge but can’t translate it to the field. Versus a C licensed coach that gets the most out of his players.

There’s different ways to skin a cat. I’ve seen, and been a part of, the BRSC and Dynamo Academy way.
I’m not hating on BRSC. It’s the best training you can find in BR. But at the lower levels, when looking at the big picture, there’s still a lot to be desired.

That is starting to change with the addition of MLS NEXT for boys and the start of Girls Academy (starting next spring) through LATDP Elite. In fact, several players from MLS NEXT have been scouted and regularly train with MLS Academies due to their play this season.
This. Huge difference in competition and level of play. Kids in this program for several years are going to have a speed of play and technical ability far beyond their peers.

Thanks for the feedback, both good and bad.
First day of placement was yesterday. Got to meet Marvin Smith and he explained the philosophy for U10 and U11. I liked what I heard. It’ll be good development for my son and once he gets into middle school we can decide what to do from there.
LittleCreep really enjoyed the practice session and felt like he played well. If he’s happy, I’m happy.
