Happy for him. Di Canio is nuts.

Kind of misleading op. They rejected a bid but the article says AZ will consider a higher bid. Not like an outright refusal to sell.

You're right, edited. Still don't think this is a good move for him.

Sunderland has decent talent to put around Jozy(Sessegnon, Adam Johnson, Seb Larrson). I think a full year under Di Cano and they will be closer to a mid table team than relegation threatened. There is not much in competition for Jozy at striker(Fletcher). This could be a good move for Jozy. With all that said any move during a cup year can be risky but I think Sunderland could be a good fit.

No problem dood

As for concerns about relegation that I have seen, wouldn't a well structured contract account for a potential escape for him?

I wonder what the initial offer was.

Greg Seltzer reports that AZ have not yet reacted to the bid.

AZ technical director, Earnie Stewart, confirmed Sunderland bid but states that AZ have not yet made a decision.

from the guy that writes some for ESPN and Fox Soccer:

According to @VI_nl AZ have turned down Sunderland's first offer for @JozyAltidore of 6 million euros. His contract is up in 2015. #leverage

Don't know if it's 100 percent accurate. My guess would have been in the 5 million range.

6 million is dirt cheap. I wouldn't move him for at in a year preceding the World Cup.
