Well, few could have projected how ridiculous some of these sponsorship deals have become
True. At least you aren't Chelsea. Their deal runs til 2015 I'm pretty sure (not that Roman is hurting for cash or anything).

Stadium debt is still in the 250mil range to be paid over 20 years. Here's a great read on our finances.
Interesting read. Like I've said above, they're is definitely some merit to being a fan of a financially responsible club. But like the article says:

there is a middle ground between spending like it’s going out of fashion and hoarding cash for a rainy day.
It does seem silly that Cazorla seems to be the only world class player to be brought in since the sales of Cesc, Nasri, RVP and Clichy when the business model essentially hinges on success on the pitch. Who knows what would happen to Arsenal if they happened to have a season like Liverpool a few years ago when they failed to make the CL.

We have more money to spend on transfers that we are lead to believe. We can spend more and still come out in the black. Kroneke is making money and not reinvesting enough of it back into the club.

Kroenke hasn't extracted any wealth at this point. At least nothing major. He'll makes his many, many millions when he sells.

He'll turn a nice profit, maybe even close to 100%. Which is really disappointing, considering how little he has done with regards to running the club.
At this point, the only reason we have stayed in the top four in the last four years or so is because of Wenger. If we could have Wenger til 2019, that would be amazing. Hopefully when we start getting new sponsorship deals, that money can go to bringing in more quality talent, and improving our wage structure.

quote:True last year he was a miracle worker. I never wanted it was Wenger who didn't want to spend. He has just been towing the company line. He never wanted Fab, RVP, or Nasri to leave but all were sold anyway. Give Wenger a little bit extra financial muscle and he could really put a squad together worthy of the EPL and UCL titles.

long interview with Gazidis. Says commercial deal money will be reinvested in the squad, among many other things.

Off topic. Creepiest pic of Wenger ever?

Team News
Diaby to have fitness test on friday, is 50 50 at the moment. Fabianski out with shoulder injury. Szczesny back in squad. Walcott has virus and might be ok to play. Frimpong returns to full training on monday and is said to be in top shape. Sagna and wilsiere two weeks away from full training and rosicky another week more than that.
And an good article from Arseblog further back and explaining me, crazy, and Beast's arguements.

I don't care so much if we buy lots of new players, but I'd really like to raise our wage ceiling, and reward our better players with contracts that can compete with Chelsea, Man City, and Man United. If the money went to that, then I'd be happy. I don't see what else the money would go to, as we make enough from ticket receipts to make our debt payments.

Just read on Bloomberg that arsene is negotiating a new contract. Article also stated that his current contract pays him ~$11 million a year.
Posted on 9/13/12 at 9:40 am to DB10_AFC
7 mil GBP x 1.6 = $11.2 million
