The tallest player we had up there was 5'9". With the talent we have, we have a much better chance of scoring if we tried to pass it around trying to find an open lane.

I'd settle for having any comprehension of advantage.

That wasn't a problem for 12 matches I just got back from in Europe.

They also didn't scream for something called "offsides."

9/10 on cringe. ATL can do better.

Most of those headers are on counters when defenders are running toward their goal and there's a lot more room. It's completely different when the entire defense and midfield is waiting in the box for the cross.

and I don’t see how passing around that compact defense would automatically generate better looks

get the ball in scoring areas more frequently in the final minutes, and, worst-case scenario, it opens the match up more if they clear it

you don’t want to pass it around and get nothing out of it

With Martinez, Almiron, Nagbe, Barco, and Gressel passing it around, making runs, some one-twos, a little chip here and there, we have a much better chance of getting a scoring chance than crossing it. If we wanted to send in cross after cross, then put in Vazquez (6'3") or Williams (5'11"), because once we start sending in crosses against a defense waiting on crosses, Martinez (5'7") is neutralized.

Barco looked pretty dangerous in his 25 minutes. Excited to see what he can do in a full match. He’s gonna torch a lot of the right backs in this league.

Carleton drew a penalty in stoppage time and converted it to get a point against Louisville City.
