His name, Jorge Franco Alviz, won't ring a bell but his nickname, 'Burgui', might, a striker in Real Madrid's Castilla, reporting to Zidane, and one of their stars of the season. His potential is such that he has even managed to catch Jorge Mendes' eye, who has been acting as his agent for some months now. 'Burgui', born 21 years ago in Burguillos del Cerro, Badajoz - hence his nickname - is coming to the end of his third season at 'La Casa Blanca'. He joined the ranks of Madrid C for the 2012-2013 campaign, then playing in 'Segunda B'. The following season he was called up for Castilla, which competes in the 'La Liga Adelante', Spain's second division. He made 36 appearances and scored five goals. He is also now a regular for Zinedine Zidane's Castilla, in which he has racked up a six-goal tally. He is growing in stature and attracting attention from near and far. 'Los Blancos' also want to see him progress and make the jump to the first team. He is one of the most-used academy players for training with the senior team and Carlo Ancelotti has already given him some minutes, sending him on in a friendly against Fiorentina last summer in Warsaw. Mendes has already had Alipio, Mendes and Fabinho on his books when they were in the reserve team, but now it is a Spanish player he has chosen to represent, which must give his teammates a boost, seeing that those who excel can attract the best agents in the world. Casemiro looked good yesterday (yet again).

quote:

The Santiago Bernabéu crowd let rip at the Real Madrid players after their close shave against Schalke, booing them, waving white handkerchiefs in typical fashion and chanting "out, out" at the final whistle, though they did applaud the German side for the part they played in a thrilling game. Jeers were also heard at various points during the encounter, particularly after Schalke scored, while a smattering of whistles even greeted Carlo Ancelotti before the match when the line-ups were read out over the speakers, though the stands were by no means full at that stage. On the other hand, the biggest ovation of the night went to Luka Modric when the Croat made his return from injury as a sub, replacing Sami Khedira.

How do you Madridistas feel about the ball whoo yesterday and the Bernabau?

Tough fan base to say the least... You gotta have some major balls to go play for them at this point.

It is a tough place to play/coach for sure..... They make LSU football fans seem like pee wee football parents ....... The fans may actually force the axe on Carlo if he doesn't win la liga or CL.

ETA the whole defensive line against Schalke deserved every whistle they got..... I'm about done trying to defend Bale as well. Kroos may die before the season is over seriously....... Dude has played some damn minutes.

Didn't mean that. It's just a super high pressure place to come. I guess most big clubs are, but I don't think anywhere comes close to Madrid in all of sports.

Obviously it all depends on managers, point in players careers etc but you look at a lot of those guys from the Robben era there and many of them failed etc.

The negotiations between Porto and Real Madrid are already well advanced. The price has already been agreed: 30 million euros plus five million more in add-ons (number of matches played, number of trophies won). There is still one detail that has prevented the deal being completed, however. The commissions of the agents for brokering the transfer. There are three people from the Madrid end who intervened in the negotiations. Miguel Pardeza, a former sporting director at Madrid (he was fired in the summer), Paco de Gracia (also involved with the Madrid club but who left) and Óscar Ribot, a former head of the Madrid press and who also took part in the signings of players such as Casemiro and Lucas Silva.

Porto is a club that trades on the stock market and has to make public all of its operations. They bought 100 per cent of Danilo’s rights (part of them had been owned by DIS, the same company involved with Neyamr) and paid 13 million euros for them. But the 4.9 million euros in fees, carried out by president Pinto da Costa, were widely criticised. On this occasion, Porto have said that they will not pay a single euro. They want 30 million plus five million more.

Danilo has a year and a half left on his contract and he is expected to leave this summer. As is Colombian Jackson Martínez and he is expected to fetch between 35 and 40 million euros. The economic rights to these two players are also linked to a loan of 25 million that Porto asked from Novo Banco and they will be compensated in full once one of the deals has formally gone through.

Never paid attention to Danilo. He better than Carvajal going forward, or something?

Germany international Sami Khedira has announced that he will quit Real Madrid at the end of the season, when his five-year contract with the club comes to an end. “It’s not a decision against Real Madrid. I want to find new challenges for my career and continue to grow as a player,” the 27-year-old midfielder told German magazine, ‘Kicker’. .

Khedira didn’t reveal where his next destination might be however. “I don’t have an agreement with any club nor any preferences as to who I would like to join,” he explained. Among the clubs who have been linked to the midfielder are Schalke 04, whose directors have admitted contact with the player while Chelsea and Arsenal are also rumoured to be keeping a close watch on the situation.

Khedira made a positive assessment of his five years at the Bernabéu, where he won the league, Champions League, Club World Cup and Copa del Rey. “For me, it was a magnificent moment in my life in a magnificent team. I will do everything I can to continue helping the team during the forthcoming weeks,” he added.

A few days ago, George Alaba, the father and agent of David Alaba, Bayern Munich's talented young left-back, held a meeting in Vienna with various Real Madrid representatives to discuss the possibility of his son signing for 'Los Blancos'.

In December 2013, Alaba penned a new contract with Bayern binding him to the Bavarian giants until June 2018. When he signed the new deal, the player sounded an upbeat note about the future and said that he hoped to hang up his boots at the Allianz Arena. Alaba joined the German club in the summer of 2008 and by February 2010, at the tender age of 17, he had made his debut for the first team. He soon became a regular under Jupp Heynckes, a trend that continued with Pep Guardiola, and is now a key figure in the team's line-up.

The situation seems to have changed somewhat and his father is now considering a move. Alaba is keen to seek new horizons but if he is to keep winning trophies his options are quite limited should he choose to leave Bayern. For that purpose, Real Madrid are at the very top of his wishlist.

Bayern Munich aren't about to give up on the player and the decision is entirely down to the young defender. Real Madrid don't want to get into a squabble with the German club over Alaba and the player's exit is not a straightforward matter, especially when you consider the €40 million price tag. Nevertheless, the plan is to strengthen Real Madrid's squad with the best the market has to offer, and Alaba certainly fits the bill.

Alaba will have the final say and it's up to him to make the first move. Only he can decide whether to stay at Bayern Munich or pack his bags for the Bernabéu.

Interesting. I really like Carvajal a lot and would want to see him in the starting 11 for the foreseeable future.

I suppose this is an acquisition which will free them of Alvaro Arbeloa.

Being Spanish, I don´t see Carvajal losing his starting slot to Danilo (should he come), unless Danilo is an absolute beast going forward (I believe he´s similar in his defending prowess).

Martin Ødegaard hasn’t played a single minute of Real Madrid Castilla’s last two game games. And since he has been demoted to the subs’ bench, the team is back winning after a run of four consecutive defeats. It’s clear that while no one doubts his technical ability, it’s not working out for him in Spain’s third tier, the Segunda B. Coach Zinedine Zidane feels that the 16-year-old is highly-talented – a player who gives the impression that something special is going to happen every time he receives the ball. But he doesn’t adapt his game to his team mates and that is why the technical staff have realised that they have no other option but to leave him on the bench for the time being.

Backroom staff feel that with Ødegaard in the side, Castilla play more like a team of 10 than 11 because the rest of the team can never find him out when the team is moving forward, and recently they stopped attempting to pick him out. It’s not so much resentment on behalf of the Castilla team but more a case of the Norwegian continually making the wrong choice. Ødegaard has refused to train with the reserves and only joins in with training sessions on the eve of the team’s games. That’s not enough to click with the other players, or allow everyone in the side the chance to get to know each other.

The newcomer and his father seek refuge in the clause included his contract with Madrid which stipulates that the club must ensure that he trains with the senior squad five days a week. On three occasions, Castilla’s coaching staff have called meetings with the player and his parent to explain the situation and advice him to attend Castilla’s training sessions on a more regular basis. Yet neither Ødegaard nor his father seem to realize that changing tack and taking the advice they’ve been given on board is the right thing to do as the teenager’s progress with Castilla constitutes an essential part of his own development. Regrettably, some players have complained that the teenager “can’t be bothered” with his Castilla team mates and is only interested in being alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s clear that his integration at Madrid would be much easier and far smoother with player of his own age. That’s something which Ødegaard should think about.
