It was kind of a regional game in terms of interest. This isn't really surprising. Without a team from another part of the country you basically have one region with intense interest instead of two regions.

Sure doesn't make it any less sweet though.

It was a closer game and it wasn't as regional as this game. Played in the southwest with teams from two different regions. Also, it wasn't a rematch.

This was largely just another SEC game. Not surprised that it didn't capture the interest of the nation.

I remember bama fans hating on Auburn for last years ratings. So.....

Not sure how as last year's AU game received the highest ratings in history for a game on cable tv.

The gumps predicting last night would get higher ratings were cute. Very dumb, but cute and good for a chuckle.

Didn't seem to hurt Auburn-Oregon last year which set a cable record for viewers.

The game came down to a last second field goal and like many have said with a team from the West Coast in the game it opened up a whole other part of the country to care about the game. Bama versus Texas was very well rated.

Blame LSU for being unable to make it an exciting game and with two teams from the SEC playing it would have taken a 28-24 type game to make a few million more viewers watch the game. I have to admit if I was not a Bama fan I watch very little of that 2nd half.

Yep. Game had three things going against it IMO:

1. Regional game

2. Rematch

3. Style (defensive battle)

I had 2 lady friends who called me upset they could not find the game. They did not know to look on ESPN. I wonder how many other casual viewers did the same.

it wasn't a fun game to watch unless you are a Gump.

Exactly. It was a drag to watch. When the highlights are punters and kickers, people change the channel.
