BCS draws a 13.8 rating
second worse rating in BCS history.
W/ shutout, no surprise BCS overnight down 14% (13.8 rating, still cable's biggest since last year bcs). B'ham delivers 61.2, NOLA 51.3 39 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

That's what happens when you have a rematch no one likes and have the game on a cable network. If the game had been on ABC, NBC, CBS, or FOX the ratings would have been much higher.

Combination of things caused this...
SEC rematch and location made it a more regional game.
Being on cable as opposed to network tv.
Not an exciting, compelling or close game.

The rematch did hurt. But more than that, it was boring watching a Kicker. That's going to make some mad but it wasn't a fun game to watch unless you are a Gump.
I can't tell you how many people I've talked to today that say they didn't watch after half time.

Most boring national championship ever.

I don't blame them, just another boring Bama domination...

I'm sure I would have been bored had I been a casual fan. But I think it's safe to say the title of "most boring national championship ever" goes to the 2001 Orange Bowl when Oklahoma beat Florida State 13-2. That's the only national title game since the BCS was first founded I didn't watch all the way through.

YES!
As much as we love our SEC teams & the great "D" they play....folks want action, theatrics the only way you get maximum exposure on a game like this is to show it on the networks instead of cable.
I'm glad it failed for ESPN...greedy SOB's!

13-2 and 41-14 are two off the top of my head. Were those more exciting to you?

Didn't seem to hurt Auburn-Oregon last year which set a cable record for viewers.

I remember bama fans hating on Auburn for last years ratings. So.....

It seems like people like pts. People more enamored with WV vs Clemson than Bama and LSU, two heavyweights going at it?
