There's a method to testing, but you are completely correct...

I used to help the testing of CBRNE equipment in the Air Force, I've facilitated and participated in several tests and coordinated engineering at Edgewood (Ft Dietrich) where they kill monkeys for fun...

1. There is no inhalation seal.
2. Without a sealed system their claim that "exhalation spread of the aspirated disease is mitigated" is a false truth. We now know it spreads primarily through symptoms.
3. The only way to prevent disease spread is a sealed suit, bleaching stations and body condoms. You see it in movies...the rest is "mitigation" and to a poor degree considering human behavior.

I think the goobers walking around with those cute masks with exhalation valves are hilarious...if they do have it, the valve points the breathing straight to where their hands are postured.
