quote:it's interesting that people on the left seem to not be aware that this has already been "verified." this is just the public acknowledgement of what's already been discovered. that's why everybody who has read it is disturbed by it.
Unless the information in the memo can be independently verified

They took at least a month to write it and it's 4 pages long.
It's a memo. A summary. Are you expecting a novel?

While Nunes says the memo is made up of “facts,” Democrats have fiercely rejected that characterization, describing the document as “talking points,” “misleading” or just flat out “lies,” in some cases.
The democrats who are the kings of FAKE NEWS are telling us that the Nunes memo is fake?
When the dems say someone is lying, that person is most likely the only one telling the truth. They have lied about so many things, who do they think they are to try to tell us what we should or should not believe as fact?

FBI used the controversial "Steele dossier" to obtain a surveillance warrant
In decades of criminal defense practice, I have literally never seen an investigative file that did not contain at least some misstatements of fact or outright false statements or allegations by officers or their sources. When police (or anyone) investigate something, they collect any and all statements and information they can. Some of it, or in some cases most of it, is complete bullshite. It's the investigator's (or prosecutor's or judge's) job to sift through all of it and figure out what is credible and what isn't.
When considering whether to issue a warrant, a judge's job is not to make a judgment of guilt or innocence, but only to consider whether there is enough to justify further investigation (through a search or wiretap or whatever). Fifty bullshite statements and five that may be credible can support issuing that warrant.
The point is that no amount of obviously false information in a request for a warrant can offset even a small amount of information that may be true. The obviously false information is simply ignored and if the information that may be true is enough to warrant further investigation, the warrant should be issued.
