Why not back the Dem leadership into a corner and then cut their legs out from under them?

Their whole argument is about Turtle in 2016. So here’s what I propose:
1. Have Trump name a nominee- likely a woman
2. Say you’ll wait to take the vote until after the election- takes care of the Turtle argument
3. Take the moral high ground, saying you’re acting under your own rules set by yourself and watch Dems scramble.
Democrats wouldn’t be able to attack the nominee, due to how attacking a woman nominee would look in the eyes of women and moderate voters. Secondly, you’ll have named the nominee, which undercuts any narrative of Trump nominating a far-right loon who is trying to destroy people’s rights.
Put the democrat officials in a lose-lose situation, keep the election narrative on Biden and keep up the body blows.
Just my opinion, but the immediate win of trying to ram a SCJ through the senate may not be the best move. Also keep in mind, Mitch said that whoever Trump nominates will receive a vote on the floor, but he said nothing of it being before the election.

That’s not how it works

I don’t know, but the only chance of the nomination getting confirmed before the election is for trump to elect a minority. Maybe a gay female minority.
Any straight white guy will be stalled by accusations of racism or sexism etc

I don’t understand what you mean by it, but I meant that in the context of it being a democrat talking point. By naming the nominee, it limits the way Dems can use that as a talking point when people can actually look up that claim themselves. The same thing with Kavanaugh, Dems will make the claim anyway, but end up looking foolish because there can be a concrete rebuttal that allows for people to decide for themselves one way or another. And like Kavanaugh, it would push people away the Dems.
