Unlike this site, on reddit upvotes and downvotes effect content.
Downvotes can bury content and silence posters. So with just a few dedicated trolls you can create an effective echo chamber. The Progressives left is built on echo chambers and silencing opposition. Reddit just gives them the perfect vehicle to do so.

You see TBoy, on reddit your post with 53 down votes would be auto hidden and moved away. And because you have negative karma your posting privileges would be suspended.
And someone else's post calling you a dipshit would get 1000 uovotes and be first in the thread. You can't read discussions in real time and you never see dissent.
But here on TD your post remains viewable to all and you are free to respond to and discuss anything with anyone.
TD is how free debate works. Reddit is a progressive wet dream.

During the 2016 election cycle, Share Blue literally bought out the moderators and took over the Politics subreddit. It became an echo chamber by design.
The_Donald took off like a rocket, but the mods kept adjusting the algorithm to essentially keep it from influencing the rest of the site. Now it's quarantined. They won't shut it down, because it is a massive traffic generator, and Reddit uses it to make money. But they don't want it spilling over to the rest of the org.
TL;DR- the Politics sub was outright purchased by ShareBlue.
