Is that from 2016? If so a lot of that red has changed over. Y'all may not think it on this website but a lot of people are sick of the drama and behavior of Trump that voted for him in 2016. Also a majority of those are rural counties, and you could match the population in just NYC or LA in 50% or more of those counties. Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 by millions of votes

YET, in the 2018 midterms (where the party of the sitting President historically does poorly...ask Obama how they went for him) the GOP GAINED 2 Senate seats...only the 3rd time in the last 50 years that has happened.

Weren't they the only state that Reagan didn't carry? Their Scandinavian roots push them hard left.

Greed.
The fed provides grants to "non-profits" to get 'fugees settled and on the teat. (money successfully injected into local economy through payrolls and overhead).
Once the 'fugee is firmly affixed to the teat, there is a steady flow of fed assistance (more money flowing into the local economy.)

what generates more revenue to the state coffers?
1) federal-assistance cash spent locally by the imported dirt-eaters
2) selling the equivalent amount of money in cheese

Definitely plays a part. Being super high trust is a good thing (and a necessary evolutionary trait for Europeans in cold climates) but not understanding that it’s only attainable through homogeneous populations.
