The Mexican ship is their equivalent to the USCGC Eagle, which the Coast Guard uses as a training ship at the Coast Guard Academy.

Agreed and the deaths of the midshipman took any humor from this unfortunate accident. I would like read the conclusion deriving from investigations as couldn’t they just drop the anchor if the engine died?
