Have you ever been in Baton Rouge on I 12 from Millerville to college?

How about all of I-20?

How about Choctaw?

What about highway 90 from Lafayette to Morgan city?

This is not a real conversation.

I’m going to drive to orange tomorrow just to show you the havoc it will wreak on my suspension.

Seems like Louisiana has been at the bottom of reputable QOL rankings ever since I can remember.. and I'm old!

Jesus could come down from the heavens and get elected governor and I still wouldn't bet against Louisiana being 49th or 50th.

I think it's more of a cultural problem than a money problem.

This

LA held the same ranking for the conservative Jesus's term as well, MS does the same and it really does not matter who is in the Gov seat just as the rest of the deep south that has not been "recolonized".

Federal "welfare" outside the deep south generally consist of research grants, large amounts of jobs, and MIC spending which leads to a way out for the population, our welfare system in the south is just a poorly baited trap for the week minded.

Its secondary goal is to ensure that the minority population DOES NOT MIGRATE OUT and become an even larger problem for the rest of the nation.

Until we recognize this and force change it will not matter one bit what color or letter is beside any politicians name, the circle will just continue to go round and round and the weak minded will stick to their political tribes.

So how did Georgia rank #17? Their demographics aren't extremely different from LA's

Yes. I'm kind of surprised that MS isn't 50th. It seems objectively worse. Louisiana, Arkansas, and Alabama have always been similar to me. West Virginia is the trashiest state I've ever been to, and has nothing to show for having produced so much wealth. New Mexico has a 3rd world vibe to it that really makes you feel like people are just "stuck".

I suspect the difference between 50th and 46th isn't much to brag about.

What? Or do you mean down strict racial lines?

Would you be surprised to know there are 6X more federal employees in GA than LA?

Ga is top 10 in research funding LA is in the 30's

GA gets around 10 billion more per year in military spending.

The list goes on and on.

So folks keep squabbling about your federal crumbs while your neighbors are eating cake, you may be against the spending but you will be part of paying it back whether you or your state benefited from it or not.

Funny thing is CA, VA, and TX are top 5 in every single category of federal spending, next time one of them yaps about how great they are and "welfare" numbers keep this in mind.
