When a politician says "I am a man of character."

That's your sign right there he has none. Has anyone on here actually used that line when describing yourself to someone else? Now if you're asked about your character, that's another thing but to just offer it up on your own gives me the impression of being a braggart - or a beggar in this political instance.

The vast majority of politicians are highly narcissistic and in it to get rich without working hard. There are a few exceptions. But to your point, if any one has to tell you their character’s good, it’s likely got serious flaws.

It comes across as immodest and self-righteous.
Character is judged by others.

I call it a veneer of civility. It's an act, no different than a professional wrestling gimmick. And idiots like Decatur, texridder and Mickey actually believe it.

Wunder how many of those "men of character" would run for office if they were required to submit a financial statement the day they took office and required to update it every year they were in office.
