What will be the US response to the next future epidemic.

Knowing what we know now. In the case of the next potential epidemic. Would you be in favor of having the President closing all borders and shutting down all international flights immediately?
Personally i think when we heard about the first case of wuhan flu, it was already too late. Virus was potentially already circulating months before WHO and China discovered their first case.
Looking forward to seeing what we all learn from this. And how we can improve our response without invading into our everyday life.

Bring domestic drug manufacturing home and beef up our domestic manufacturing in general. Invest in large reserves of PPE like the strategic oil reserve.

I would say we're already there meaning, the Federal Reserve and/or government will be picking winners and losers. Its all centralized now. Shut everything down, beg for bailout or give aways is what its going to be about.
