Loads of people would want to watch Rousey, or whoever the current badass girl is, take on a low level guy because they'd love watching her get her arse kicked.

I don't watch MMA at all and I'd watch that.

This broad wanted to fight a man.

Did she? I'm honestly curious. I don't know what the story is here. Obviously, she ultimately decided to participate, but did she actually petition to fight a man?

She got to fight a computer nerd.

She lost.

As I already said, whether foolhardy on her part or not, I actually respect her a great deal for going toe-to-toe against a man in that type of competition.

Equating this to a couple random people outside the ring is dumb.

I was expounding on the concept of "it's not OK to hit a woman." I wasn't comparing the two scenarios. But they obviously have parallels. A man and a woman were thrown into a physical confrontation on equal terms. 999 times out of a 1000, whether in a controlled environment or not, the man unilaterally decides who wins that fight.

She asked for it, she got it in a controlled environment.

Assuming she did indeed ask for it, then yes she did get it.

Of course there are situations. Which is my point. The poster was trying to use the logic that it should never be done.

It's just semantics.

"Never hit a woman" is a general rule for life and for 99.99% of situations that a man will likely encounter.

It's not meant to imply that it's an absolute law of the universe that a man should never hit a woman even if she's attacking his kids with a butcher knife.

Did this one silly fight really draw a significant number of folks (and money) beyond what a typical low level MMA card would? I'd love to see the figures on that.

The typical low level MMA card may be 2 years salary for one of these 2. To some people that is enough. $10,000 could be a large sum to them.

I understand. Do we know they payout for this silliness?

I like the nerd’s bravery. If he wins he beat a girl and if he loses he will never live it down.

Why the question mark? You made the reference about wielding power for the man. In order to wield power you have to understand the consequences.

She now understands.

He was in a no win situation unless getting beat up turned her on to the point he tore off a hunk later on.

Exactly why it’s a problem.

I Don’t think there is No audience for this. Quite the contrary. There’s always money to be made when you cater to base interests.

This woman got what she bargained for, plus a little more, it seems.

No, the concern is for the debasement of society in general.

Using a narrow lens, prostitution is simply a seemingly beneficial financial exchange for a commodity, sexual service, in which both parties ostensibly benefit.

However, from a wider lens, we see that it cheapens the sex act for all society and coarsens our relationships in general.

I would say the .01 is comprised of life-or-death situations. But whatever.

The question mark was because I didn't initially understand what your comment was in reference to.

I get what you're trying to say about equal pay, equal rights, etc. and heaven knows I agree with you.

So I do admit that - on some level - I am sort of glad that the world got to witness this beatdown. As far as I'm concerned, the sooner we can rid ourselves of this silliness that women can literally do anything that men can do, the better.

I suppose that some guy has to be the one who administrates what should be a completely unnecessary social experiment. But at the same time, It's hard for me to applaud the dude. I would at least hope that he took zero pride in the victory and only saw it as unfortunate necessity to shut up a shite-talking female fighter. But again, I don't know what the story is here. I'm genuinely curious if anyone knows...did she really want to fight a guy?
