Republican Study Committee Chair Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) threw his backing behind former President Trump after Wednesday night’s Republican presidential debate, in which Trump did not participate. “Division is the last thing we need — we need to really behind our candidate for 2024 and we need to do it fast,” Hern said in a statement shared by the super PAC supporting Trump.

The Republican lawmaker urged the party to get behind Trump in order to “face the Democrats with a united front,” and took a swipe at Trump’s rivals after the debate.

quote:

“After last night’s debate, two things are clear. One, futile exercises like last night’s debate only serve to further divide our Republican Party and, two, no one on that stage will be our Republican nominee,” Hern said.

So is the GOP uniting behind the nominee important or not?
He seems to thinks so. Many here do not.

No. The GOPe/megadonors directed Ronna McRomney to have two more debates. All in on Nikki.

The conservatives are behind Trump.

Many republican politicians are not.

Rally behind your candidate. That doesn't make them the nominee.

It's nice the GOP still has some degree of survival instinct, though.

Truth, right here. You either understand this already, or you need to figure it out.

There's another year until the election and Dems haven't started campaigning. Relax.

No one is able to cut into Trump's lead.

Rona and the RNC are becoming desperate.

Donations aren't coming in.

When Trump wins enough delegates to be the nominee he will be the candidate. Until then he is not. You guys act more like Democrats every day.

The Romney, Cassidy, McCain, Kinzinger, Bush/Cheney Wing disagree with this. Bill Cassidy has assured us on numerous occasions that Trump won't be the nominee. We'll see...

What would inspire any actual conservative to support Trump?

You guys aren't conservatives and really should quit repeating this lie.

It's hard to find one actual conservative issue from Trump besides lowering taxes. He loves Big government, he loves bailouts, he loves handing out our money and causing inflation to skyrocket. I'd be willing to bet if Trump was asked on the spot of he could define conservative principles, he wouldn't have a fricking clue where to begin.

I could go on, but I think it's clear Trump doesn't have a true conservative bone in his body. He just figured out there's a certain segment of Republicans who are absolute retards and he figuref out how to manipulate them by simply talking shite - against the same group of people Trump is a part of, mind you.

I'm relaxed. It's these other loons still campaigning that need to relax. Unless Trump somehow dies between now and the election, there's no point in their continued fight. For a couple of them, there has never and will never be a point for running.

No

To unite the party Trump would have to take on at least 1/2 of the democrats issues.

People voting for Trump dont want that.

So the Republican Study Committee Chair Rep is acting like a democrat for wanting the GOP candidate to win the general.

Makes sense.

If you’re an idiot.
